The Tovolo brand has a great reputation for producing high quality silicone ice cube molds. This set meets that standard and is capable of making nearly perfectly spherical ice balls to chill your drink. The ice ball maker comes two to a pack. The base of the mold is a hard, clear plastic and the top is a firm silicone. Each ball uses about 2/3 cup of water and there is a fill line in the mold for measuring. I like that you only have to put the water in the base rather than try to fill it through the tiny hole in the top of the mold.

Even with the fill line, some water might come out of the hole on top regardless. The two molds can be stacked in the freezer but must be placed an a flat surface. It takes about 4 hours to completely freeze. Removing the ice ball is easy once you rinse all sides of the mold with warm water, and it releases readily. The ice ball purportedly doesn't melt as quickly as smaller ice cubes. Although, it might not be a perfect sphere sometimes, it still looks pretty cool. Note that the ball tends to crack along the center line where the top meets the bottom of the mold when you add liquid to your glass.
