Takeaway: A nice decorative green energy pump for larger aquafeatures.

The decorative lotus leaf around this mini solar pump is made of a lightweight foam with a printed leaf pattern on the top. Be careful not to crease it because the pattern will rub/flake off. The lotus leaf measures 11" across and the solar panel is 6.25" in diameter. The unit's pump is hidden on the bottom and is suspended in a foam disc that allows the entire unit to float. There are three small suction cups on the bottom of the pump that allow you to adhere this to the bottom of a shallow water feature.

There are 4 fountain head styles to choose from, though I didn't really notice a difference visually in the three wide nozzles. Using the narrow nozzle, the spray was higher and narrower. Although the unit floats, I found that it didn't pump as well as when the unit was completely submerged and adhered to something below the water's surface. You can't go too deep, though, because the light won't reach the solar panels and the spray nozzles aren't effective under water. Depending on the amount of sun light that is available, the pump can output up to 160L/hour, about 42 gal/hour or 3/4 of a gal per minute. The amount of sun light will also affect how high the water will spray, about 1 to 2 feet. Occasionally the pump would stop when a cloud passed over, but it started up again when there was enough sunlight. Given these specifications, this pump would work well in larger water features, but isn't ideal for a small bird bath because you would lose a lot of water from splashing and have to constantly be refilling the bird bath so it doesn't run dry.
