Takeaway: Works great as an external backup drive.

The dimensions of this drive are about 4”L x 2.75”W x 1/4” thick. The drive weighs only 1.5 oz and has a SATA3 connection. I’m going to be using it with the Patriot Gauntlet 3 USB 3.0 hard drive enclosure. I see that most folks are having problems with the drive are using as their primary hard drive for booting and running applications, however, I simply need this drive as a backup for photos and documents.

The first time you plug the drive in, don’t forget to initialize it by formatting and allocating the memory to a partition. In my transfer speed tests, I was about to get write speeds of about 29 MB/ sec and read speeds of up to 34 MB/sec using the USB 3 hard drive enclosure. While this isn’t the fastest performance I’ve gotten out of a UBS 3.0 drive, it’s about 50% faster than my USB 2.0 hard drive. I didn't have the opportunity to test this drive when it's directly connected to the motherboard using a SATA cable, so I can't speak for the performance there. For the most part, I'm simply transferring files back and forth from this drive to my main hard drive and I rarely run or open any files off of it. The drive overall works well for these purposes, and I’ve had no issues with it so far.
