Takeaway: Warm hat, great sounding headphones, low isolation keeps you aware of surroundings.

You’ll receive the beanie, a 23” microUSB cable, an LED keychain flashlight and an instruction manual. The beanie measures 9.5” tall and in made of a medium weight rib knit yarn. The inside is lined with a soft fleece layer that adds a lot of warmth retention to this hat. The materials are 50% polyester and 50% acrylic. On the right-hand-side there is a leather patch which covers the controls for the removable headphones. The microUSB port for charging the device in on the bottom of this patch and accessible through a button-hole slot.

The center Play/Pause button is also the power button and allows you to answer incoming calls when paired to a mobile phone over Bluetooth. In your phone’s Bluetooth menu, connect to ‘Bluetooth Headwear’. I was really impressed with the audio quality. It’s clear and crisp with good balance between the ranges and actually gets quite loud, which I wasn’t expecting. There was no distortion in the music at max volume, however, the bass isn’t punchy at all with these headphones. To increase or decrease the volume, press and hold the plus or minus buttons for 3 seconds or more. If you release the button too early, it registers as a short press and skips to the next or previous track respectively which was a bit frustrating.

The play time for these headphones is about 5 hours on a full charge, depending on volume. Although sometimes the high ranges and bass sound a little thin depending on the track, overall the accuracy of the audio was very clean. The headphones for this hat are removable so you can wash the beanie itself. There’s a slit at the back of the unit that will allow you to remove the two earpieces from the inside. Just make sure when you put the earpieces back that you have the speaker side facing the interior of the hat.

The hat is comfortable to wear and warm for cooler weather. You barely even feel the earpieces on the sides except when you have to press on the buttons for the controls on the right earpiece. The audio quality is solid and quite enjoyable for this type of headwear, even though it doesn’t provide much passive noise isolation at all. It’s great for folks who don’t like having earbuds in their ears under their hat in wintertime and allows you to enjoy your music while being aware of your surroundings.
