Takeaway: Good insulating performance, large capacity, handsome finish. Keeps drinks cold or hot.
This is the tumbler. It has a bright, brushed metal finish and measures 8" tall and has a 3" diameter base with a 4" inch diameter top. It's similar in build and dimensions to the Yeti and Rtic brands. It is made of 304 18/8 stainless steel with the Sheriff logo etched on the bottom. I do want to note that the adhesive from the label is really tough to clean off, so expect to spend some time at the sink. You don't want to scrub it with anything abrasive though as this could scratch the finish. The shape of the tumbler allows it to be used in most cup holders without falling over and it is quite large, though can still be grasped with one hand on top or bottom. The tumbler comes with two lids. Both have a rubber seal but this one has a slide cover to open and close the drink opening which is also shaped to accommodate a straw. The other one has no slide cover but the same drink opening and straw hole. I'm not sure why this one is useful at all because it seems like a spill hazard and won't be as insulating as the other one, but I suppose it just comes down to personal preference. Putting the lid on the tumbler is easy and the pull tab on the side helps you release the seal to take the covers off.
The tumbler is double walled with a vacuum air chamber between the inside and outside so let's test the performance of its temperature keeping abilities. First I test it with boiling hot water. I'll add about 1/2 cup of just boiled 100 Degree Celsius water, that's 212 Fahrenheit. Now I'll put the cover on with the slide opening closed and set it aside. After an hour I checked the temperature and it held a lot of its heat reading 60 degrees Celsius or about 140 degrees F. That's still plenty hot for only a half cup of liquid sitting at room temperature for an hour. Try that with a paper cup. Next up I filled the cup with ice and as you can see there's no liquid in this cup, just ice. I covered it up, and 12 hours later, against sitting at 68 degrees Fahrenheit, the ice has melted some but not all that much. Only ¼ cup of liquid came out. The rest of the ice is still frozen solid. The other thing I want to note is that the outside of the tumbler has no condensation and in fact it doesn't even feel that cold to the touch. It also never got super hot to hold when it had boiling water in it either. Overall, the tumbler has very good insulation properties, a nice large capacity, and a convenient to use lids. The only thing that could be improved would be if it was spill proof and not merely spill resistant.
