Takeaway: Bright, accurate, quick to stabilize and level. Visible from over 50 ft away indoor/outdoor.

The laser level comes in a nylon Velcro top bag. Inside you have a compartment for the laser level, a magnetic mounting plate, a magnetic target plate, and a 46" nylon adjustable shoulder strap.

The laser level measures 4"L x 3.5"H and 2"W. It weighs just over 1 lb. The exterior of the device is coated with rubber to help absorb small bumps and impacts, but note that the laser level is fragile and susceptible to damage so be careful not to drop it. At the front of the unit the lasers are emitted vertically and horizontally. You can select one or both of the lasers during use by pressing the green '+' button on top. This unit requires 3 AA batteries to operate and batteries are not included. On the bottom of the unit is a ¼" thread mounting hole for use with the included magnetic mount or any standard tripod mount. The mount attaches to the laser level by tightening the thumb screw on the bottom. Then you can stick it to any magnetic metal surface for a firm hold. You can also hang the mount on a nail or screw. While in the mount, you can turn the laser level to face left or right.

There are two operation modes for this laser level. The first is a locked mode which draws a fixed position laser line either horizontal, vertical or both. In this mode the laser will flash to let you know that it is not automatically leveling itself. This is helpful if you need a straight line that is on an angle and not perfectly level or square. The target plate can help you find the laser line in very bright conditions.

The second mode is the self-leveling mode. In this mode, the unit will automatically level the line within 4° of horizontal or vertical. If the unit is more than 4 degrees off level, the unit will beep to alert you that it cannot self-level. When self-leveling it can take a second or two to find the level but it does stabilize quite quickly. I found the automatic leveling to be accurate when comparing against my bubble level. The one thing with using the self-leveling levels is that they're sensitive to vibrations and shaking so even footsteps in the same room can throw them off for a second. That's something to think about if you're working near roads with lots of traffic or heavy trucks and machinery passing by often. Other than that, the light is bright and easily visible indoors and outdoors over 50 feet away.
