This mattress protector is made from 100% polyester and has synthetic cotton plush inside like a thin comforter. The elastic pocket around the outside is stretchy and deep allowing it to wrap around up to 18” of mattress plus foam toppers. The material on top is soft and smooth and has a little bit of texture to it. It doesn’t crinkle like vinyl but if you rub it, you’ll hear a bit of scratchiness, like the outer material of a windbreaker. The queen size pad is easy to install on a queen sized mattress and fits perfectly. The excess elastic tucks under the mattress which helps it stay put. Although the pad isn’t supposed to be waterproof, I tested it with some water and it ended up seeping all the way down to the mattress within a few minutes, so while the pad is soft hypoallergenic, don’t plan on using it to protect against liquids.

Overall, the pad adds an additional layer to keep your mattress clean from stuff like dust mites and allergens. It’s soft and mostly silent under bedsheets and is machine washable. It can also be tumble dried on low.
