You'll receive a set of 3 ceramic knives in a gift box. This is the 11" Chef's knife w/6" blade, then you have a 10" utility knife w/5.5" blade, and an 8" paring knife with 4" blade. Each knife comes with a plastic blade guard to protect the edges from chipping when you place them in your drawers. The knives are lightweight and slightly weighted towards the handle with a center of balance along the bolster.

The knives are all very sharp out of the box so handle them with care. Each cuts cleanly with very little effort through paper (edge sharpness test). You will want to be careful not to drop of smack the knives against hard surfaces like the sink or countertop since, being made of ceramic, they could shatter. They should also only be hand washed since the abrasives in dishwasher detergent could wear the edge down faster; these require specialized sharpeners to put the edge back on. I love using ceramic knives in the kitchen because with proper care they stay sharp for a long time and make any cutting, slicing, or mincing task quick and easy. These are more affordable than the ones in the stores with similar quality to Farberware ceramic knives. You should be able to slice pretty thinly with these, though over time if they dull these are not easily sharpened.
