Takeaway: Large, bright, easy-to-read display, many functions, several alarm tunes but no radio or volume control.
You'll receive the alarm clock, instruction manual, and a USB charging cable. The alarm clock has a plastic housing and measures 6-3/8"W x 2.75"L x 1.75"H. It weighs about 7 oz and has a built-in rechargeable battery. It can also be plugged in a wall adapter for constant power, although the charging LED would always be on. On the front is the LCD panel which measures 4.25"W x 1.75"L. All the controls and settings are on the back. The clock, date, and alarms are easy to set and a few of the other functions like hourly chime, and time/temp call out worked well. You also have the option to mute time/temp announcements and can set the alarms to trigger only on weekdays or Monday through Saturday rather than every day.
At any time you can tap the top of the alarm clock and the screen will light up while it announces the time and temperature. There are 7 tunes for the alarm though most may not be recognizable to an American audience. When the alarm goes off, you can snooze it (5 mins) by tapping the area on top. To silence the alarm after it rings, press the chime/tunes button, which is not explained in the manual. The hourly time/temp announcement only goes off between 7 am - 9 pm so it won't go off in the middle of the night. Just remember that if announcements are silenced, the hourly announcements do not go off either.
At night, in very dark settings, the screen will glow a gentle blue. This backlight is not adjustable nor is the volume of the alarm clock. Overall this is a multi-functional alarm clock with plenty of useful features. The tunes in it aren't that great, but it's nice to switch it up from boring beeping once in a while. A fully charged battery supposedly lasts up to 6 months of use, though I haven't had the unit it long enough to verify that. If the unit is running low on battery this LED will illuminate. Just remember is that if the unit is switched off or runs out of batteries, all the settings will reset to the default. The only improvement would be if it had an FM radio, but then it would probably need to be a plug-in radio, whereas with the battery it could be used as a portable/travel alarm clock.
