Takeaway: Lightweight, travels well, easy to setup and disassemble. Portable clear HD video and loud audio.

This kit includes the MosicGo Sport Ultra #ShortThrowProjector, EliteScreen's Yardmaster-2 58"" diagonal #OutdoorMovieScreen and a tripod. This video is sponsored by EliteScreens who loaned me this kit to try out for a couple weeks.

The projector comes in a padded zippered carrying case. Included is an instruction manual, power brick, 6’ USB-C to USB-C cable, 5’ HDMI cable, power cable, remote control, and the projector. The projector is lightweight and compact, weighing just over 6 lbs and measuring 12.5”L x 5”H x 6.5”W.

It is an ultra-short throw LED projector, which means instead of projecting directly at the screen, the lens points at this convex mirror which reflects the image toward the screen from a close distance. There are onboard controls on top and on the sides are the input ports, power, and USB power ports. There's also a USB-C input/PD port and 12V trigger port, if you use a screen with a motor.

The remote has the following functions. Bluetooth pairing, projector lamp power and brightness, menu navigation, input selection keys, mute and volume adjustment keys, menu, source, and home key. The remote control requires 2 AAA batteries which are included.

On the underside of the projector you’ll find adjustable rubber feet in each corner that will help you stabilize and level the projector. This projector has an internal battery that when fully charged, can run the projector, unplugged from an outlet, for up to 3 hours at the minimum brightness and 50% volume, or 1 hour at maximum brightness and volume. It can also provide up to 27 hours of audio only playback when used as a Bluetooth speaker.

In the center, on the bottom is a mounting plate for tripod mounting and it has a standard ¼”-20 threaded hole in the middle to use with the included tripod.

The frame for the movie screen is super simple to assemble and takes only a few minutes. Watch my video above for a demonstration. If you’ve got creases in the screen from being folded up, one trick is to set it out for about an hour with the black side facing the sun. This will help soften the creases and make them less visible. On windy days you’ll want to make sure you weight down the feet of the frame with something heavy like sandbags, so the screen doesn’t turn into a giant sail and blow over.

Even before sunset, the image from the projector should be visible enough to adjust the position of the projector to get the right size and coverage and also set the focus. As conditions get darker, the colors become vibrant and the projection is clear. The audio from the projector’s stereo 8 Watt speakers is impressively clear and loud, which I was not expecting from such a small machine. It’s actually more than adequate for watching movies without having to use an external speaker, though you could, if you hook one up to the headphone jack.

The frame also disassembles and packs up in less than 5 minutes, and its small footprint and lightweight design makes it easy for you to take traveling and use on the go.

You can also use the projector indoors of course and you’re not limited to the size screen that comes with the kit. When used with my 100” diagonal YardMaster-2 screen it looks just as clear, if just slightly more pixelated.

The brightness button on the remote and the lamp button on the machine let you select from 3 brightness levels, max, medium, and min depending on your preference and, as noted earlier, to extend battery life when the projector isn’t plugged in. The Bluetooth pairing function allows you to pair an audio source, like your phone, to stream music to it. But note that the projector can only be used as the output device, and you can’t pair it to an external speaker via Bluetooth, say a sound, bar to play the projector’s audio elsewhere.

Overall, projector and outdoor screen make a great all-in-one outdoor movie projection kit. The screen sets up easily, is durable, and packs up just as fast. The projector video and audio quality are impressive, and the nice thing about the ultra short throw is that the projector is below and close to the screen so everyone in front of the screen can have an unobstructed view.
