Out of the box, the trike is folded up and packed with padding and zip ties to prevent damage, so you’ll need to carefully remove them as you unpack it. Assembling the vehicle is straightforward but takes about 15 - 20 mins. The unit also comes with a spare inner tube in case you get a flat tire. Before your first ride, you should fully charge the 650 Wh battery which can take 5 to 7 hours. You will also need to inflate the tires to the correct pressure of 36 PSI before you ride. the front brake tension can be adjusted via the brake barrel adjust adjacent to the brake pads, while the rear wheel brakes have tension nuts on the inside side of the tire. Either brake, when engaged, activates the flashing red brake light at the back. You can also lock the brakes after engaging them, by pressing down the button at the inside corner and releasing the lever.

At the front left handlebar is a mechanical bell triggered by a simple thumb press to alert other vehicles on the road. At the right handlebar is the control LCD. The display shows a battery gauge at the top, current travel speed in miles per hour, and mode. Short pressing the power button lets you cycles through the modes for drive, reverse and eco. The upper button toggles on and off the headlight, which is a bright white LED that helps illuminate the road at night. The inside half of the right handlebar is the throttle, and the trike is front wheel drive only.

You’ll twist the throttle towards you to engage the motor; the amount that you twist dictates your speed, allowing you to gradually increase to the top speed of 12 mph at full throttle while in drive mode. While that doesn’t sound very fast, it feels quite zippy when you’re riding. The turning radius is fairly tight and u-turns and circles are easy to perform at low speeds. Because the vehicle has 3 wheels, you don’t need to use your body to balance while riding, compared to riding on a two wheeled bike. However, this means that if your road or path is not level, you will be able to perceive that tilt to the lower side of the road. The vehicle is able to cross over small bumps like a low curb fairly smoothly, and the shocks on the rear wheels make that transition low impact.

On hilly inclines, this e-trike was able to get me up the road without much issue thanks to the 1000 watt peak power rating, though note the recommendation is to not exceed 15% grade, or about 8.5 degree slope. If you’re finding that you need a long brake distance to get the trike to come to a full stop, especially when travelling downhill, you should increase the tension on the brakes which will reduce the amount of time and travel distance required to slow down and stop. After some adjustments I was able to reliably and safely stop within 5-8 ft when travelling at top speed on a downward slope. Eco mode, on the other hand has a top speed of 6 miles per hours for a more comfortable, easy ride and extended battery life. When reversing, the motor speed is capped at 2 mph.

The basket at the back is spacious with a 12x14 inch base widening to 15x19 at the top, which was the perfect size for my 38-can insulated cooler bag plus the basket in the middle lets me take along even more gear or a furry travel companion. Just be sure not to exceed to 300 lb load capacity.

Overall, the Gyroor C5 was fairly straight forward to assemble, out-of-the-box. The cushion seat and back rest make for comfortable and easy riding on paved surfaces, provided that are relatively level. Riding it is smooth and enjoyable with top speeds up to 12 mile per hour and a range of 30 miles on a full charge. It even handled the hills and slopes in my neighborhood without any issues. There’s plenty of cargo space with its two removable baskets, and it has all the features you need for safe, responsible riding including a rear brake light, headlight, side mirrors, and dual-braking system.
